Nikon has released a firmware update for the digital SLR that corrects D3100 a significant list of errors and bugs. Firmware v1.01 rectifies errors pertaining to autofocus, reproduction and noise reduction. This includes the reduction of a magenta cast in still images captured at high ISO settings when using live view or a movie for a long period of recovery. The firmware is available for immediate download from Nikon's website.

Nikon By D3S Review
Based on a production Nikon by D3S, firmware version 1.0, 1.0 (note: As we were finalizing this test for publication, Nikon released a firmware upgrade for the by D3S to Firmware 1.0.1, which corrects some minor bugs relating to video performance. We did not experience the issues which the update is designed to fix, and all samples (and the majority of gallery images) taken for this this review were created with firmware 1.0) When the Nikon D3 was launched in August 2007, it had an immediate impact on the DSLR market, and not only in the professional sector. The D3 was Nikon's first DSLR with an FX (full frame) CMOS sensor, but its major selling point, in the minds of many photographers at the time, was its unparalleled image quality at high ISO settings. With the D3, photographers could shoot at ISO settings up to 6400 without a significant penalty in noise, and in a pinch, even go up to ISO 25,600 (equivalent)-unheard of at the time. This versatility, coupled with a very capable AF system and rugged, weatherproof build, did much to reverse Nikon's James fortunes in the professional DSLR market. Professional Canon users, many of whom were disillusioned by the seemingly endless problems that plagued the flagship EOS 1 d Mark III at the time, flocked to the D3 in large numbers. In the process, Nikon mounted a formidable challenge to Canon in the sports and action segment of the pro marketplace.
A little over two years later, and Nikon is trying to build on the foundations laid by the D3 's runaway success. Enter the by D3S. Ergonomically, very little has changed. In fact the by D3S and its predecessor are difficult to tell apart at a casual glance, but the by D3S does offer some significant improvements, not least in new 720x1280p video capture mode, and several minor tweaks designed to make the new camera more competitive. These include a new ' Quiet ' shutter release mode (first seen in the D5000), in-camera dust reduction, and a choice of four image area formats, including DX, and a new 1.2 x crop option. The by D3S offers the same resolution as the D3 at 12 million pixels, but its redesigned sensor can hit new heights of ISO performance, offering a ' native ' range of ISO 200-12,800, expandable up to ISO 102,400. Is the promise of even better low light performance enough to answer those critics that are clamoring for higher resolution? An analysis based on a production Nikon D3100, Firmware 1.00 1.00 l, B 1002 Nikon has developed the habit of making very attractive entry-level DSLRs, they rarely are the best specified but cleverly designed so they are easy and pleasant to shoot with. The D3000 mounted this pattern perfectly sweet, an update of the D60 (which was itself a D40X slightly updated), it added usability features to make it a pleasant little camera to use, despite a specification that was starting to look pretty out-of-step with the rest of the market.The D3000 sold well, despite his age quite 10 Megapixels sensor and the lack of live view and video. However, there is only so long that intelligent product design and functionality integration can compensate for a specification that seems dated. So, with that in mind, Nikon has announced the D3100-probably the biggest upgrade of its offer entry-level because it really attacked the low-end market with the original D40.The D3100 is built around 14.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, bringing not only of live view, but also to capture Full HD video at entry-level Nikon for the first time. In fact, this is the first Nikon DSLR to offer movie recording of 1920 x 1080. You can only record clips up to about ten minutes long (due to a limitation of maximum file size of 4 Gb are shared by all DSLRs), but that still counts as an impressive feature in addition to this level.The body Gets a slight upgrade from a basic design that essentially goes back four years for the D40, gaining an extra button to the left of the screen, a mode switch to auto mode dial, a suspended lever to engage the live view and a direct film record button. Revisions were made also the characteristic-teaching, hand-holding ' driving Mode ' and an additional autofocus mode is designed to allow greater focus in live view and autofocus while shooting video.All this adds up to a DSLR camera that incorporates all the features of 2010 's "must have" but looks like the product of evolution, rather than dramatic innovation. And 2010 was the year during which the rest of the market has no foreseeable along those lines, not least during the expansion of large sensor, mirrorless interchangeable lens camera crowd.The creators of camera always try to emphasize that the mirrorless cameras are creating a completely new market, rather than competing with entry-level DSLR, but it's pretty obvious that many people planning to upgrade from their compact Point-and will consider both types of camera when taking their decision. So while the D3100 is unequivocally a DSLR (in a time where the line between mirrorless cameras and DSLRs is becoming increasingly hazy), its beginner mode-friendly guide puts it squarely in competition with many models which are equally eager mirrorless expansions frame your welcome. Many of these cameras, such as NEX-3 and 5, Olympus E-PL 1 and dei Famosi Panasonic, Sony offer interfaces accessible in the same way a smaller packages at competitive prices. Nikon D7000 Review

Review based on a production Nikon D7000 with firmware v1.00, 1: 00 pm, 1.002When it was announced in September the D7000 took a lot of people by surprise. Although a D90 successor had been on the horizon for some time, what wasn't expected was how close in specification terms the new room would turn out to be to the D300S. In some respects, in fact, the D7000 actually outguns its (supposedly) semi-pro cousin, and offers a compelling upgrade option to both D90 and D300S owners, whilst nominally sitting between the two in Nikon's current lineup.
Although, the ergonomically D7000 is a very close match for the D90, its overall ' feel ' is considerably more serious, thanks to a magnesium alloy body shell and slightly thicker rubber coating on the hand grip and rear of the room. At 3 .2MP the D7000 offers the second highest resolution of any Nikon DSLR, behind only the 24Mp D3X. All of these pixels are packed onto a newly developed CMOS sensor, which is almost certainly the same or very similar to that in the Sony Alpha SLT-55. As well As extra resolution, the new sensor also offers a higher standard ISO span of 100-6400, expandable up to the equivalent of ISO 25,600.
The D7000 's AF and metering systems are also new, and represent a significant upgrade to those used in the D90. The new camera boasts a 39-point AF array with 9 cross-type AF points and works in collaboration with a new 2016 pixel RGB metering sensor-to allow 3D AF tracking (essentially tracking by subject color, explained here). Other changes include the same combined live view/movie switch control as the 3100, and a significantly upgraded movie specification, up to ' full HD '-1920 x 1080 resolution at 24 fps. Unlike the D90, the D7000 can also maintain AF during live view shooting and movie, thanks to its AF-F (' full time ') AF mode. D90 owners have been waiting for a replacement camera for a while, and although the D90 isn't set for retirement quite yet, the D7000 certainly represents a compelling upgrade. It took longer than we'd hoped.?€ for a production D7000 to be supplied to us, but now that we've had one for a few weeks we've been able to produce an in-depth review. The most obvious physical clue to its new position is a magnesium alloy body shell, which up to now has been reserved for Nikon's top-end APS-C and full frame cameras.
' Under the hood ' though the differences are legion-a new 4 .2MP CMOS sensor, dual card slots, new 39-point AF array, ' true ' HD movie mode with full-time AF and more customization options, some of which are inherited from Nikon's professional DSLRs. Like the D90, the AF with Nikon D7000 supports's older AF and AF-D lenses (lower-end models are limited to compatibility with AF-S and AF-s optics only) but additionally, because the D7000 has an To indexing tab on its lens mount, up to 9 ' ' non-CPU lenses can also be registered with the Chamber.
This allows the use of virtually any lens To specification or later to be used in aperture priority or manual mode with the D7000, with almost no loss of functionality (apart from AF). Novice DSLR users might never look beyond the horizons offered by their kit lenses, but for the enthusiast, legacy support like this could well be a deal-clincher.
Ergonomically, the D7000 and D90 are quite similar, and as you can see from this view of the back of the two cameras, in terms of its control layout, the D7000 is very close to the D90. Some controls have changed slightly (the D90 's ' Lv ' button becomes a spring loaded switch for example) but the number of control points is the same and everything is basically in the same place.

Nikon delays launch of 3D my Picturetown service
Nikon has announced a delay in the launch of ' my Picturetown ' 3D, 3D imaging service Japan only. The service that was supposed to launch this month is now rescheduled to March 2011 due to production problems with NF-300i 3D digital photo frame. The service provides online conversion of 2D and 3D images for 3D format compatible with the NF-300i
